Jungle Man

Brody has been following Jeff Corwin on Animal Planet.  Jeff Corwin travels the world catching, touching and then showing different animals.  Since Brody loves being outdoors, he sees a lot of himself in Jeff Corwin.

After watching one of those shows, Brody got all dressed up to go on a Safari in our back yard.  In our back yard is a large creek and tons of green brush to crawl through and explore.

He came out into the living room and said, "Dad, I have my clothes on to go out in the tall grass."

I had told Brody that if he wanted to go out in the tall grass, he had to be covered from head to toe in order to protect him from the snakes and chiggers that live there.

After consulting me, he took off heading for an experience that would change the course of his life.

Within about an hour, Chasity heard Brody screaming out back.  He came running in all concerned about his foot.  While traveling through the tall grass, he had stepped on a board that had a nail in it.  The nail had broke the skin on his foot.

Being a little concerned about tetanus, I decided we should get him another TD shot.  I couldn't remember the last time he had one.  Brody at first was very resistant to the idea; however, I told him that once tetanus sets in that 1 out of 5 die from it.  He changed his mind really fast about the shot.

The next morning we headed to the doctors office where they prepped the needle, told him to relax and stuck him with the needle.  Brody handled it like a man and I was proud of him.

Brody then said, "Dad, I am sorry I stepped on the nail.  I didn't know it would cost so much money to get a shot."  I told him that even though it cost alot, at least the doctor was there to take care of him so nothing bad would happen to him.

Doctors in most cases go into that field because they want to help and serve people and we should thank the Lord for all their work as they seek to help as many as they can.
