Before the kids head off to bed, we always have a family Bible story time followed by a time of prayer. The kids sit in a circle on the carpet and I share a story from the Bible which is always fodder for a good discussion.
The story tonight was about Jesus calming the storm. Jordan who is two years old was listening very closely. When I got to the wind part, I held my hands up to my mouth and made a loud wind sound. I then looked at Jordan, "Did that sound like the wind?" He looked at me and said, "Yes!"
At the end of the story, I said, "Jesus stood up and said, 'Peace, be still! and the wind stopped." Jordan's gaze was very intent and I could tell he was interested. We then concluded with our bed side prayer. I put the kids in bed with the exception of Jordan who still needed to get his pajamas on.
While my wife was getting Jordan ready for bed, Jordan came into our room ready to talk. He ran over to give me a hug. He held up his little finger and said, "Stop!" I asked him what he was doing and he responded, "Wind stop!" I then said, "Jordan, can you say 'Peace, be still!'" Jordan looked at me and said, "Please stop!"
Well, he was close anyway....
