Our back yard is about an acre in size with a creek running through the back yard. Whenever it floods, new stuff from the neighborhood floats into our back yard. There are a number of treasures and Brody has found many items partially buried in our back yard.
Brody came up with a new idea to create a junk yard. He went and found all the tires and put them in a pile. He then found perhaps fifty different items and put them in a pile next to the tires. I said to Brody, "Why are you building a junk yard?" He looked at me and said, "I want to sell this stuff."
Brody is a very good salesman and certainly has the gift of getting people to do what they normally wouldn't do. He just walks up to people and starts talking about whatever and before long he has a new friend. They do things for him as a favor just because they like him.
Since we rent our home, the guy who mows our yard showed up. He went into the back yard and looked at that huge pile of junk. He then shook his head and got his riding lawnmower out and started mowing.
I knew he needed that pile of junk moved so I went out and threw all the junk back into the trees where Brody has a fort that he built. As I was throwing the junk into the trees, the lawnmower man stopped his mower and said, "Why are you throwing all that stuff into the trees? You know that son of yours is just going to pull it all out again"
I responded, "I think you are right; however, it will give him something to do." We shared a few stories and then he told me. "The last time I was mowing your yard, I picked up a piece of metal and threw it into the trees. After I did that, I noticed that blood was streaming from my arm onto the ground." I said, "What happened?" He said, "The metal has a sharp edge on it and it sliced my arm as I threw it."
I apologized profusely and thanked him for mowing the yard. I guess having a junk yard can be a problem for our neighbors.
