Chasity and I took the kids to the school carnival where they threw rings, shot playguns, jumped in the bounce room, had cotton candy and swallowed down snow cones.
Chasity said, "Denny, can you take Kara to the Cakewalk?"
Chasity had been working at the cotton candy booth making cotton candy. She was only suppose to work one hour and then join the kids and I. I really wanted her to come along to the cakewalk, but Jordan needed to be fed so off I went.
Kara and I held hands as we traveled to the cakewalk booth. I was thinking to myself that I never win the cakewalk. In all my life experience, I may have one once in my life. I just always happened to step on the wrong number somehow. Well, Kara was floating on cloud 9 as we walked.
I said, "Kara, are you excited about doing the cake walk"
She said, "Yes, I want a cake!"
I said, "Well, you need to win for me so that I can eat the cake. Can you win a cake for Daddy?"
She looked at me with those big eyes of hers and informed me, "Daddy, I want to eat the cake too!"
When we got to the cakewalk, she was the last one in the circle. The lady announced they were going to start the music and off Kara went. She stepped from square to square as she went around the circle.
Finally, the music came to a stop and Kara found her number. She was standing on number 12. You could see the big smile on her face as she waited for them to draw the numbers. I had this feeling in my heart that she was standing on a gold mine.
The lady at the front said, "We are going to pick the number now." As she reached her hand into the bucket she pulled out a stick that had a number on it. The lady then said, "I have number 12!!!"
Kara stood there stunned. The two ladies at the front of the room looked at her and said, "You win so go pick out a cake."
Kara was completely in a daze not knowing what to do. I said, "Does she get to pick anything on the table?" The lady said, "Yes you do."
Kara and I still lost in the moment traveled to the table that was full of different treats. Kara's eyes immediately fell on a cartoon covered cupcake tray that had 6 cupcakes in it. You should have seen the smile on her face as she triumphantly picked up the cupcakes. I said, "Are you sure this is the one you want?"
Kara had no doubt that her choice was the perfect one for her. She wanted those cartoon cupcakes that had big bird and Elmo on them.
Kara and I walked back to see Chasity who was standing near a table. I said, "You are not going to believe this, but Kara won."
Chasity said, "How many times did you play before you won?" I said, "Kara won on her first turn!"
Chasity after seeing the cupcakes had a big smile on her face. Chasity loves to win things and was so proud of her little girl.
When we got home, the first thing Kara wanted was a cupcake. She opened up the plastic tray and selected Elmo and proceeded to push it down her throat. It only took a few seconds and it was gone. She said, "When can I have another one?"
I told her, "Let's have another one for lunch tomorrow." Brody said, "No, let's have one for breakfast!"
I said to Brody, "Breakfast? That sounds terrible." Brody said, "It sounds good to me. I love having cupcakes for Breakfast."
Kara went over and picked up the plastic tray of cupcakes and said, "I am going to put them away in the refrigerator." She picked them up and off she went. She was going to save them.
I said, "Kara, when you go to bed, I think I will eat the cupcakes. I am really hungry." Kara looked at me and said, "No, Daddy, it is time for you to go to bed!"
I told Kara, "Daddy was just playing. I am going to let you eat the cupcakes." She looked at me and gave me one of her big approving smiles. Jordan was on the floor and he seemed to like the idea of eating cupcakes (but he isn't getting any)
