Chaz and I were at Walgreens walking down the isle when we came across some summer items. The shelf had a large sign on it that said 50% off. I was tempted and decided to look a little further.
One of the items on the shelf was a large pool 12′ x 6′ which we were certain Brody and Kara would love. We walked out of the store with a brand new pool.
When we got home, the kids were super excited and couldn’t wait to get into the pool. Brody was using words like, “Cool” and Kara was saying things like, “Can I put my swimming suit on?”
We finally got the pool blown up and started to put water in it. I didn’t realize that it takes forever to fill a pool that size. The pool was filling up very slowly. The kids couldn’t wait and jumped into the pool splashing and laughing.
The next day the kids wanted to play in the pool again. I told them that this would be fine. Once again smiles came across their faces as they raced outside to play in the pool.
After about a half an hour later, I went outside to see how things were going. The pool was filled with sticks, shredded boxes, etc… The pool looked like a dump. I was shocked… I had no idea where the shredded box came from.
I emptied the pool, dried it out and let it sit overnight. The following day I invited my brother and his kids over to play in the pool. His kids came over and they were so excited. All the kids jumped in the pool splashing and laughing.
While we were inside, the kids took dirt clogs and had dumped them in the pool. You can guess what happened…
We went outside to see how the kids were doing. We were really shocked by what we saw. The kids with huge smiles on their faces were jumping in water that looked like a mud hole. Dirt was running down their faces and laughter was coming out of their mouths.
Kara had come in a little earlier and I thought that was strange. I then realized that Kara was not too fond of the dirt being in the pool. She decided it was time to end her playtime outside. She was the only clean one in the bunch.
Being a kid does have its moments…
