Awana Night

Chaz and I are Sparky leaders at our church. We listen to verses and then take the kids to game time and story time. The kids are always full of life with many stories to tell.

After Awana's was over, Kara who is in Cubbies came into my room with her face full of excitement! She handed me three treasures. The first was a coloring sheet that she did. She was so proud of herself. I could tell she had tried very hard to do a great job. The second was a craft activity and the third was a sheet that had some tick tac toe patterns on it.

I grabbed her up in my arms and told her, "Kara, you did such a great job! I just want to hold you now."

As she sat in my lap, I gave her a big kiss on the cheek and told her that I loved her. She was floating on cloud nine from her experience in Cubbies.

I then told her that I just wanted to hold her all night because I had missed her. As I gave her another big hug, she decided that it was time to go run. I played with her saying, "Are you sure? I want to hold you the rest of the night. I missed you while you were at Cubbies!"

She was certain that she had enough hug and hold time and was ready to run. She got down and started running all around the room with the other kids. She was wearing her snow boots so her running was a little uneven.

When Kara got ready to go to Cubbies, Chaz had put her shoes on Kara's feet. However, Kara didn't think they matched so she wanted to wear her pink boots which would match her pink shirt. She is really something when it comes to fashion!!

As she was running around the room in her boots, she would stop from time to time and wave at me and give me the biggest smile. She was just so happy and felt so free to just run around the room.

Later that night, we got on our knees and prayed to the Lord. Brody does a personal prayer now instead of the standard..."Now I lay me down to sleep..." Kara always wants to do a personal prayer too.

Kara began her prayer praying for one of her friends. She then said, "Jesus, help me to hit the couch." She then stopped her prayer and hit the couch. She then continued by thanking the Lord for her toys, Mom and Dad, Brody and Jordan. I am not sure what the "hitting the couch" means, but I think I may ask her someday.

Whenever I look at that little girl, my heart goes out to her. I know her world is so innocent right now. I wish I could protect her from all the evil in the world; however, I know that the Lord will replace me as He takes her life and molds it into the vessel that He wants her to fulfill.
