Since Chaz is busy with Jordan, I was volunteered to take Kara to her school's field trip at the children's learning center.
As Kara and I were driving to the meeting location, Kara was obviously very excited about getting there as soon as possible. I decided to take a stop and pick something up along the way. The delay resulted in a ton of questions because she was concerned that she was going to miss out on something.
When we got to the children's learning center, we were still thirty minutes early. I asked Kara to sit in the front seat with me and we shared an orange juice. I could tell she was really hyper with excitement about what she was about to experience. She was giggling, laughing and talking a mile a minute.
I asked Kara, "Are you excited about going in?"
Kara did not hesitate at all. She raised both arms in the air and said, "Yes!!"
I then said, "Kara, I am really excited about going in too. Do you think I could give you a hug and hold you while we are in there?"
Kara was not fond of this idea at all. She wanted to get in there and play. She informed me, "I want to play!!" She jumped up in her seat as she spoke. She then said, "I don't want you to hold me."
I then said, "Well, can I have a hug before you go in?" Kara thought about that and said, "Yah, but only a tiny hug."
I said, "Kara, I want a big, big, big hug."
Kara responded, "No, just a tiny hug."
I said, "Kara, I will give you a tiny, tiny, tiny hug before we go in."
She seemed rather pleased with this statement and gave me an approving smile. She had playtime on her mind and I could tell.
She gave me the tiny hug before we went in and then joined the group.
Kara was so shy when she went in and saw everyone. She is very careful to not stand out and tries to make sure she is doing what everyone else is suppose to do.
After the initial meeting, they let us go to run around in the place. She did a craft with stamper, I painted a kitten face on her. We then played with balls, water, fire trucks, went on the slide, went to a science show, did the Merry Go Round and lastly we went into the construction area.
At one point, Kara wanted to do a puppet show. We both got a puppet and went to the booth. She had a large puppet lamb and I had a small hand brown cow. As we started our show, a number of people decided to watch. I guess we were pretty entertaining. We had other kids who wanted to help us with the show. We had a lot of fun.
At the end, we had lunch together. Chaz had loaded our lunchbox with goodies. When Kara opened her lunch box, she was obviously very pleased!! She went through it just like a kid goes through their candy after Halloween. We prayed together and then had a great conversation together talking about all the exciting things we did.
Kara and I are best friends. During the events of the day, she stopped and looked at me. She said, "Thank-You Dad and then proceeded to give me a hug and kiss." I think that qualifies as a BIG BIG HUG. :)
