The next step in Jordan 's
life has begun. Chasity and I have been discussing getting a toddler bed
for Jordan .
He is now two and a half years old. He can understand what we say to
some extent and we can certainly understand him. We had gotten a toddler bed
for Brody and Kara at this age and it worked out great.
Since we no longer
had a toddler bed, we were looking to purchase one. The local consignment
sale started this week so we went to see if they had one. They had four different beds. The one
we wanted was the cheapest one which surprised us. We loaded it in the
van and headed home.
I took the toddler
bed in the house and set it up. I asked Jordan , "Do you want a big boy’s
bed?" He looked at me a little uncertain. Jordan likes the familiar and new
things don't interest him as much as Brody who is always interested in new
things.
His first nap in the bed was a short one. He woke up about an hour later ready for
life. When he woke up, he just sat in
the bed and cried like he was in his crib.
I came in and asked him, “Do you want to get up?” He told me he wanted to get up and crawled
out of bed.
Tonight after the Bible story, I prayed with Kara while we knelt
by her bed. Jordan had seen us do this every
night. I then went and prayed with Brody
while we knelt next to his bed. Jordan had also
seen us do this every night. When it was
his turn, Jordan
ran and knelt next to his bed. I asked Jordan to pray
his prayer. He folded his hands next to
his bed and said, “Jesus, I love you, Amen.”
After he finished the “Amen” he jumped up into his bed and was
ready to go to sleep. The thing that hit
me is that Jordan
felt so grown up having his own bed to pray next to. I can tell that he is now really excited
about his toddler bed.
