As a family we are always trying to discover new ways to put a
positive spin on something that the kids may not enjoy. Jordan is
getting to the age where he doesn't really want to take a nap in the afternoon;
however, he still needs one.
My wife began to
use the phrase, "Happy Nappy Time", when it was time to put Jordan down for
a nap. Jordan
though is a very smart little two years old. I asked him, "Are you
ready for Happy Nappy Time?" Jordan looked at me and said,
"Wait five minutes and then it will be Happy Nappy Time." When
he said this, he was holding up his pointer finger pointing it in my direction.
After five minutes
comes and goes, I asked him, "Are you ready for Happy Nappy Time?"
He will look you straight in the eye and say, "Wait five more
minutes and then it will be Happy Nappy Time."
The funny thing is
that he has no idea what five minutes means. My wife is famous for
saying, "Five more minutes" about something which always delays the
inevitable. Jordan
has picked up on the phrase, "Five more minutes" and started using it
to try and delay his naps.
Brody and Kara
think the phrase, "Happy Nappy Time" is very funny and they laugh
when they hear that phrase. They even like to say, "Jordan , are you
ready for Happy Nappy Time?" Of course, Jordan is always a little annoyed
to hear that phrase which seems to make saying the phrase even more fun for
this older brother and sister.
I think the
phrase, "Happy Nappy Time" began when I started singing my
"Happy" song to Jordan .
The song goes like this, "I’m happy, happy, happy, I am happy all
the time" (2x) "Since Jordan is right here, I get to pull his ear!
I’m happy, happy, happy, happy, happy all the time." Of
course, I always keep beat by giving love pats while I am singing which Jordan loves.
