Rush to the Hospital

Chaz woke up at 4:00 a.m. suffering a lot of pain from the most recent contraction. The contraction lasted forever! We thought for sure this was the one.

I called my brother who raced over while I got the suitcases. Chaz went directly into the car and was awaiting my click of the ignition.

Chaz had told me that she was having contractions all night and that the last one was very powerful. She was in tears as the contraction completed its cycle. I was thinking January 23, 2010 was going to be the day.

I woke the kids (Brody and Kara) and told them that we were going to the hospital. They were both very understanding. I told them to just go back to sleep (which I am sure they didn’t).

My brother finally showed up in order to watch the kids and we took off. I was traveling over pot holes, driving on top of the water mess that had accumulated over the night from the rain.

While all of this was going on Chaz, looked at me a little disappointed. She said, “I haven’t had another painful contraction.” I said, “Are you still having contractions?” She looked at me and said that she was still having them but the pain had decreased.

We drove past the hospital and drove into McDonalds. I said, “Well, would you like some pancakes?” Chaz said, “Not really, I am not hungry.” We talked for a little bit. I finally said, “Well, let’s head home, we can always come back if we need to.”

We pulled into our driveway at 5:00 a.m. I greeted my brother who understood the situation and he headed home.

Chaz went down to tell the kids that she didn’t have the baby yet. Kara started crying so Chaz asked, “Why are you crying Kara?” Kara said, “I wanted the baby to come home.” It was so sweet…

Chaz and I jumped back into bed awaiting the next big signal that we can respond to! Our life has been a total adventure from the beginning…
