He started walking at 1 year and 2 weeks. He was pretty excited about walking. He would walk between Chasity and myself. We would enlarge his walking distance with every pass. He finally was able to stay up and just stay walking. He was so eager and wanted to learn how to walk. I think watching Brody and Kara walking gave him a strong desire to make it happen!
He walks everywhere now! He loves going to the cabinet doors and pulling everything out of the cupboards. When he is in the kitchen, he always takes them apart first.
I have noticed that Jordan loves to watch others and imitate them. Just tonight Kara was enjoying a lollipop when Jordan decided he wanted one too. It was an organic pop with no sugar so we gave him one to see how he would proceed. To our amazement, he was sucking on it just like Kara was. He didn't try to bite into it or eat it. It was just so precious to see him and Kara both enjoying an organic treat.
Jordan's first word was Dada; however, he now is able to say "Mama, Circle, Hi" His selection is very limited but he is building a vocab.
At 14 months Jordan is able to understand some basic commands like, "Put that toy in the box." "No, No" "Come Here"
We have also discovered that Jordan is very sensitive. If you use the wrong tone, he just starts crying. He does not like a firm, "No, No" His feelings are hurt severely when stated the wrong way.
We bought Jordan a little red car that we can push around. I like to run and he loves to go running with me. I push him in his car and he travels at high speeds while I run. He has the biggest smile on his face the whole time. In fact, Jordan almost always has a big smile on his face!
He has a nap in the morning and afternoon at this point. He loves his crib mattress and demands it at night in order to sleep. He will rub his whole body against the soft sheet on his mattress and sprawl out as he goes to sleep.
Jordan loves the familiar. He will walk to the living room and get his book, "The BIG RED Barn." After leaving the living room, he will go to the kitchen and open the cupboards. He will then go into Brody and Kara's room looking for his fire truck. He will repeat the cycle over and over whenever everything is put back in its place.
One of his tricks is to give you a hug when you are lying on the floor. He will run up and stick his head on your chest and just give you a hug. You can also ask him for a hug and he will give you a hug. He knows the word, "Hug."
Jordan loves Cheerios and Gold Fish. He could eat these all day. He really dislikes vegetables for some reason. He won't even go near them. He loves yogurt and ice cream. His favorite staple food is Oatmeal with honey and blueberries.
At church, he loves to give people high fives. Whenever someone walks past the nursery, he will run up to them to interact with them.
One of the things that really stands out about Jordan is that he spends a lot of time reading you. He is our only child who will look you right in the eyes and read your expression. He spends a lot of time analyzing people's expressions.
If I say, "Jordan, I want to hold you." He will run to me to be held; however, if I say, "Jordan, come here" He will take off running in the opposite direction.
Tonight I found him in our room going through a box. He had found an ice tray which I suspect was a treasure. When he saw me, he literally took off almost running with the biggest smile on his face. I thought he was going to trip he was moving so fast.
We set up a swing outside for him to enjoy since the weather was so nice. He loves that swing and will swing for a long time. In fact, Jordan just loves getting outside. He wants to ride his car, walk around or go for a swing. He has a lot to do outside! We also have a park a couple blocks away. The park has a gated area for his age group and he loves it. He will crawl the stairs and go down the slide. He just loves the slide!!
I continue to enjoy watching Jordan grow up. He is a real treat! I love to hold him and he feels right at home in my arms.
