Date Night

Marriage building is the key to a successful family. Chaz and I make sure to spend time together and just focus on each other.

Chaz asked, “What are you planning to do?”

I said, “Well, I was thinking about going out for a movie and then we could drop by Diary Queen for ice cream afterwards.”

I knew I hit a positive chord within her when a smile spread across her face. We are pretty good at seeing into each other’s heart and feeling out each others mood.

I always try to speak with her in a way where she can see that I value her opinions and ideas. Just speaking with her is fun because she is a fun person to be with.

After we dropped Brody and Kara off, I went to her car door and opened it for her…

She didn’t say anything; however, we dropped by a store and when we came out, I opened the door for her again.

Chaz said, “I remember when we were dating how you always opened the door for me.”

I responded with a sly smile on my face, “I still do..”

We don’t have too many date nights so we try to make each one memorable.

When we got to the movie, we decided to get a plate of Nachos and a drink. Chaz is into a healthy living program which has helped both of us lose weight and feel better about our health.

During the movie, she gave the Nacho box to me. I could tell she was pushing them away thinking she had enough. I said a short while later, “Don’t you want to have a few more?”

I could see the battle in her mind. She wanted to have more but she had hit her own personal limit.

Chaz said, “I don’t want anymore. You can have them.”

A short while later, I had eaten all the cheese in the Nacho box. I felt a little guilty about finishing it off…

She said, “You ate all the cheese?” I could tell that she was losing the battle at that point. I chuckled to myself as I can relate to having the same struggle at times. She busted out laughing about it too.

After the movie, we went to Diary Queen for a turtle and brownie special treat. As we walked into Diary Queen, I held her hand gingerly.

I still get a thrill from just holding her hand. Everytime I hold her hand, I am reminded of how God had given her to me. God had brought us together and made us one.

We both had no doubt that God was leading us to get married and this certainty has been an awesome blessing to us.

We decided to split the special treat and dug in with our spoons.

Chaz said, “Wow, those brownies are awesome!” I had to agree with this as it was truly awesome!

I will have to admit that I felt ten pounds heavier, but I am not sure if that was the ice cream or my heart that had been filled with her love.

I always look forward to these times….
